I've received a few pattern requests for the Santa Hat I made for my baby this year.
Well, the thing is, I couldn't find a pattern, so I just made one up as I went along. I did write it down as I went though, just in case it actually turned out okay, so here it is........ please note, I've never written a pattern before so forgive me if it doesn't make sense.

Break Yarn and pull through remaining stitches, secure.
Make a pom-pom with CC and secure to top of hat.
(Note: My baby tried to eat her pompom constantly, so please supervise small babies when wearing this hat!)

SWEEEET! What a clever pattern! Thanks for sharing it.
What an absolutely adorable baby showing off that hat!
Thank you very for sharing the pattern. I have knit a baby hat from your pattern and it is very cute :)
Thank you so much for sharing your pattern! Of all of the baby Santa hat patterns I've googled today, this one's by far the cutest.
What size needles did you use?
I am so glad I found this pattern again. I made the cutest baby hat for a friends baby last Christmas and this year I have a new grandson to make one for and I couldn't find what I had done with the pattern. I didn't think I would find it again on-line. But, here it is! Yea!
What size needles do I use for a year old baby?
What size and kind of needles do I use for a year old child?
What size & kind of needles do I use for a year old child size?

This hat is wonderful!! I made it for my nephew and he loves it!!
I wish someone would answer Christina's question about the size needles used for a one year old.
I did answer Christina's question weeks ago but I guess it didn't show up in the comments viewable to everyone.
Basically, gauge is more important than needle size... Every knitter has a different tension so the needle size one person uses will be different than the next person.
I used a sport weight yarn and chose my needles from what was recommended on the ball band, then knit a gauge swatch to be sure.
For size reference, my baby girl was nine months in the pattern photo, but she was a big baby and was wearing 12-18 month clothing at the time.
I hope this has helped at least a little bit... I don't really know how else to explain it?
why do most of the hats knitted in the round needles I have never used them, and I am a very limited knitter. can this be on straight neekles???? carol Aug.21 at 12:25
Hi...thank you for the pattern. I'm going to make this for my new grandson. I just have one question regarding these two lines:
Knit 6 rounds even
Continue in this pattern until you get down to [K1, K2tog]
Continue until you get down to how many stitches, or am I misreading?
Again, thank you. This hat is cuter than nay I've seen in stores!!!
